Physical beauty vs. Inner beauty

Beauty is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, etc. that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction. In addition; it is also an aspect that someone or something has, and this is closed in meaning to perfection. But it is important to mention that this term is subjective because all people perceive beauty by means of different ways. What is a fact is that there are two types of beauty which are physical beauty and inner beauty. Although they receive the same name they are totally different.

First of all; physical beauty is something that you can perceive or appreciate while inner beauty is related to positive aspects or manner of being of a person. When we talk about physical beauty we refer to all aspects which we can admire visually; in other words it could be a person´s elegance, figure, or complexion. It is also defined as something beautiful or a good looking person. In contrast; inner beauty refers to a human being´s personality, values, sense of humor, feelings, etc. This kind of beauty cannot be seen or touched but throughout the time you can identify it in a person. Most of the times inner beauty makes you love or hate somebody.

The second difference is the length of each beauty. First, we have that physical beauty is something that one day will end. On the one hand; over the years, good looking people lose the physical elements which make them to be pretty or attractive. Their body and physical appearance change depending of the step they are living. On the other hand, inner beauty will never disappear because it is a characteristic that you got since you were inside of your mom. Your personality will be the same during your whole life, it is fact that some aspects may change but not at all. As you see, the differences between physical and inner beauty are extremely huge.

The importance of each type of beauty depends of the person. As I already mentioned, this term is very subjective because it is understood in different ways by every human being, but personally I am not worried about physical appearance because this kind of aspect is just like an impression. It is something superficial and not important. Otherwise, I am interested on beauty inside of a person because I prefer to be with somebody who respect me and try to make me feel happy. Values, feelings, and manner of being are vital to have a good relation and it does not matter if it is friendship, love, or any other.

To sum up; physical beauty is related to vanity, jealous, greed and are aspects not important. Meanwhile inner beauty does not matter the way you look because that is not important. Purity outshines and allows you to be honest and a good person when meeting new people.

Arizona SB 1070

Have you ever imagined to be arrested just by your physical appearance? Believe it or not, this is an aberrant and ridiculous fact which is happening in this current century. I am totally bewildered because of the way people are being treated in Arizona. It was found (“Arizona SB 1070,” n.d) that this law will decrease illegal immigration but I believe there are many distinct wise to combat immigration. The approval of SB 1070 directly affects Latin American especially Mexican people. Just as a note; on May 2010 over fifty undocumented Mexican people were arrested during a protest in front of the White House. In addition, tens of thousands of people demonstrated against the law in over 70 cities. What this law promotes is racial profiling, forcing officers to determine the immigration status of someone they suspect of being an undocumented immigrant, commanding foreign people to carry papers all the time, and reprimanding factories which hire illegal immigrants.

The police must arrest people they consider suspected of crimes basing on their physical appearance, and the officers do not have to take into consideration those people is American citizens or not, legal or immigrants. According to (“La Jornada,” 2010) a survey showed that not all of people agree with the law. Even the Sheriff Tony Estrada expressed his disagreement; he said “How could I distinguish between a Mexican to another one? How could we determine who legal or illegal is?” Additionally, that survey also showed that The Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police criticized the legislation and called it “problematic”. They said that immigration has to be controlled by the Federal Government instead of the State. Furthermore, illegal immigrants may come to fear the police and not ask them help in situations of emergency.

According to (“Arizona State Senate,” 2010) the legislation considers a misdemeanor crime for foreign people to be in Arizona without their required documents. It was explained (“Arizona SB 1070,” n.d) that The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials said that this legislation is unconstitutional and violets civil rights of all Arizonans. Moreover, this affects directly your freedom; just imagine, every time you need to go out for something you must carry papers for you are not arrested. On the other hand, the approval of the law is affecting tourism. I would not visit a place where all the time polices are asking me my papers for being able to walk quietly, to shop, to study, etc.

To avoid illegal immigration; factories, bars, restaurants etc. do not shelter, hire or transport foreign people. In this way “aliens” will not get a job as a result they will abandon Arizona and illegal immigration will decrease. What the Governor Jan Brewer never thought is that her law will affect Arizona economically. Downtown you cannot see departmental stores from the American big chains, because business is made in small establishments. As a result those big companies would have to stop selling because just immigrants accept to work there by minimal salary. Nobody else accepts those conditions.

To sum up; a research (“Arizona SB 1070,” n.d) argued that the legislation was signed by Jan Brewer on April 23, 2010 but it was going into effect on July 29, 2010, ninety days after the end of the legislative session. That terrific legislation was called “The Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act or better known as Arizona SB 1070”. Something that I cannot understand yet is that this legislation has been applied in a place where 80 % of the population speaks Spanish and their appearance is like Latin American people. That makes me think that the legislation has the purpose of discrimination.

Alicia´s memories with Alicia Keys

A talented, adorable, and American artist; gifted musician and wonderful actress are some words which best describe Alicia Augello Cook; better known as Alicia Keys or her nickname Lellow. Caused by the destiny or something else, this singer has been present when I lived precious moments with special people. She is able to make me feel love even if the person I love is far away to me. She sings as an angel, when listening to her I feel immediately how every single verse is getting into from my ears into my heart. Her music moves me to the place actually I want to be. I feel identified with two Alicia´s wonderful songs which are “No one” and “Try sleeping with a broken heart” since these songs bring to my mind the most touching moments in my life.

Alicia Keys reminds me an exciting and lovely moment. I was in Rodolfo Landeros Park; the day was sunny, kind of cloudy and also windy. A special person and I were walking quietly. We decided to lie on the grass. I perfectly remember how the green grass touched our skin and how the wind blew strongly and softly at the same time. That incredible boy took out his cell phone and its little speakers, then we started to listen to an extraordinary song “No one”. We both felt identified with that adorable song. Actually, we did not what the song was about, but Alicia´s voice and her popular style liked us a lot.

“Try sleeping with a broken heart” is definitely my favorite Lellow´s song. The first time I listened to it I was working. The radio was turned on Magic 101 and that amazing song started playing. I was pretty attentive and I immediately sought for the lyrics. I took and read them; I related what I was reading with my life. At that moment, another important and special person took place with me. I could feel his presence next to me, his fresh scent, I heard his soft and whispering voice, and actually he was taking to me. He told me “I am never leaving you”, even though we have never been together. I could touch this marvelous and soft skin. I took his hands and I hug him strongly as strongest I could. So, Alice is the unique singer who is able to transmit to me what she is singing.

Indescribable feelings, wonderful emotions and unforgettable memories are some things which Keys can provoke in me. Every time I listened to her reminds me many moments I have already lived. It does not matter hoe many times I play her music; she always transmits what she wishes to express. Her sweet and particular voice brings to me the famous butterflies into my stomach, the sensation to get nervous imagining I am with the person I really love, although I am aware he will never be with me. Alicia´s music comes to my mind the mot relevant and exciting moments I have enjoyed to the maximum. To illustrate this, destiny or not Alicia Augello Cook reminds me the two wonderful and unforgettable people who have been with me during some periods of my life.

To sump up; Alicia Keys has taken an important place, talking about my likes. I have listened to many singers, but she has totally become my favorite one. Every song, every verse, every word is understood by my heart instead of my mind. I mean, Lellow is the unique one who makes me feel sadness, nostalgia, happiness, etc.

My Evolution in Electronic Literacy

Simply defined, literacy means to be able to read and to write. However, educators are looking for new ways, techniques and methodologies to help students to become more literate. One of those ways is the use of computers, since reading and writing can be done electronically. Computers are being used to send and receive e-mails, to create texts, to access databases, to be member of social networks, etc. Education is directly related to electronic literacy because most students learn better using technology. That is why Electronic Literacy has been expanded around the world.


I started using technology when I was in Middle School, but during High School; I improved too much. I remember that in Middle School I had a computing class. My first class was exciting because the teacher gave us an exercise of Paint. Our computers were still black and white and the whole course was about ASCII code. Later, the computers were upgraded and we started using Windows 93. We also used some technology in our English Lab. When I finished to study Middle School I decided to study Computing at CBTis 168. It was the best majorI could choose. There, I learned how to use basic programs and developing computing programs. Also, I started programming using different programs such as C++, Java, Html, Microsoft Visual Basic, Dreamweaver, etc. At the end of 6th semester some of my classmates and Ideveloped our own Billing Program which was called “Facturacion Mr. Fox”.


Nowadays, I have experienced using certain type of technology. Since I started studying ELT, it neccesary for me to use distinct electronic resources. To illustrate this; when I was in Propedeutico Course, it was necessary for most of subjects to use Internet in order to do our reports in the midterm and final exams. We had to show that we were practicing any skill in order to improve the L2. Listening to songs, using and on-line dictionary, uploading exercises, writing and creating blogs were several activities I used to improve my English Language. During ELT, we will have been asked to use word processors, Word, Power Point, Excel in order to write formal documents, to do presentations, databases, etc. In addition; we need to communicate among us, hence we use several social networks such as Facebook, Messenger, Hi5, etc. Studying ELT has helped me to be familiarized with much technology.


I would like to look for tools which improve my English. When teaching, it is vital to use interesting and dynamic activities instead of teaching traditional classes. Two or three weeks ago; I watched a video about teachers´ movement and I was amazed because of the kind of electronic whiteboards which American and British teachers have. Those whiteboards have a system call “Wii mote” which allows connecting your computer via Bluetooth but it must have special software to use the electronic whiteboard. Furthermore; the electronic whiteboards have the characteristic of being multi-touch which refers to the ability to simultaneously register three or more input touches. The disadvantage I find is that you need a Mac computer. But electronic whiteboards would be an excellent tool to improve the learning process for my future students.


To sump up; I have developed several abilities related to Electronic literacy. Comparing the programs I used in the past and the ones I use; it is amazing to notice that technology has been constantly changing. I started using “Paint” in a black and white computer, but some years later; I was able to know other kind of programs, so I could do many incredible things that I never imagined I could do such as web pages, billing programs, etc. To have studied computing helped me to have some knowledge about electronic tools. But what I know now , it is not enough; I need to updatethe knowledge I have about electronic tools because it is changing everyday. In my personal opinion, it is crucial that technology be applied in order to learn a second language because in this way, students will learn easier and better.

My first essay

I first saw this world on December 26th, 1990. My mother, Consuelo, and my father, Guadalupe decided to call me Alice. I was born in Noria de Angeles, Zacatecas, but we moved to Aguascalientes 17 years ago. I am twenty years old and I am studying English Language Teaching at the Universidad Autonoma de Aguascalientes. I am not old enough to talk about my past but I can say that I have experienced important events which have marked my life. But, nowadays; I am living rapidly due to of the activities I do everyday. I see myself in the future as an English Teacher including studying a Master´s Degree and having a family.

There are some relevant events that have happened to me from childhood to adult life. I had hard time making and keeping friends because I was shy and I had a lack of self-confidence at that time. Nevertheless, I had a happy childhood. I did not encounter any problems growing up as an adolescent. Since high school, I started working to support myself, and I worked hard until I finished high school. After this, I applied at Universidad Autonoma de Aguascalientes, but I was not accepted until a second list. Being accepted in the UAA was a happy moment but also a difficult one, because of my family´s economical problems I decided to ask for a scholarship and I got it. All these moments have meant the most important part of my life.

At this moment, my life is too busy and I do not have enough time as I wish I had. I wake up early every morning and go to school. This is something I really love. Everyday, I spend six hours at least at school. Classes are interesting and teachers give us too much homework. At the end of the classes, I hurry up because I start working at 2:30 pm. I work in a Business Center which is located in front of “Quinta Real” Hotel as a receptionist. The workday finishes at 9:00 pm and after that I go home to get some rest. Thus, I have little time to spend with my family and friends. Both of these people are quite important due to the fact that they are always supporting me. On the other hand, when I have time to spare I usually listen to music, read, and do homework. At this moment, I consider, my life is kind of busy.

Talking about future plans I have many. The most significant are teaching English, studying a Master´s Degree, and having a family. When I become a teacher I would prefer to work at Universidad Autonoma de Aguascalientes than doing anything else. I would love to teach in the BA, but I need to get a Master´s Degree to do so because it is an important requirement in order to be accepted at any BA. I am pretty sure that I want to study a Master´s Degree but I do not know what it will be about. What I know is that I am going to study in a foreign country. and I know, I will be meeting new people. I would like to know my perfect mate, but I do not want to get married. I would prefer common law marriage, and have two babies. To become a teacher, to study a Master Degree, and to have a family are some things I would like to do in the future.

To sump up, since I arrived to Aguascalientes, my life has constantly been changing, but I am pretty sure that all those changes have been extraordinary for me. To have studied at an excellent high school, to have applied at UAA and to have got a scholarship means that I have endeavored enough, and all of them have rewarded my effort. Although, I am working and studying hard; and I have little time to rest or having fun and I am so happy doing all the activities everyday. I am proud of myself because not many people get all of what I have gotten by my own.
